A judge acquitted a former state employee Tuesday of battering a troubled teen incarcerated at the Illinois Youth Center in Warrenville.
Marriya D. Rice faced up to five years in prison if convicted of official misconduct for a March 2003 confrontation that erupted when the teen refused to turn down her radio.
Rice worked as a security supervisor at the state-run youth center, located near Route 59 and Ferry Road, that houses about 100 juvenile girls who have been convicted of crimes or are deemed delinquents.
