Oct. 25--The Sleep Train Inc., the North Highlands-based mattress and bedding retail chain, is seeking to buy 54 California stores of Mattress Discounters Corp., including its Stockton outlet.
Mattress Discounters, based in Maryland with more than 200 stores in California, New England, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia and Florida, filed Wednesday for Bankruptcy Court protection to reorganize. Its California holdings include more than 100 stores as well as a factory in Fontana.
