Funding Stopped For Children's Mental Health: The San Diego County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 17 unanimously voted to end the county's funding for a $17.6 million state-mandated mental health program for schoolchildren on Sept. 30--that is unless the county and the 42 local school districts agree on how to fund and run the program, according to the Aug. 18 newsletter published by the California Healthcare Foundation, an independent philanthropy aiming to improve access to health care.

About 1,200 children with serious mental problems are enrolled in the program.
