Every year for more than 20 years, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded a Nobel Prize for physics. And every year, Frank Wilczek has looked forward to the announcement with a mixture of excitement and dread.
In that respect, this year was no different until shortly before dawn yesterday, when, after another sleepless night, Wilczek shuffled into the shower at his Cambridge home, only to be summoned, "dripping wet and naked," to the phone to talk to one congratulating Swede after another.
