BioPAC will fund state, local and federal levels

San Diego biomedical leaders have formed a political action committee to push for their industry the old-fashioned way: with money and electoral muscle.

The Biomedical Political Action Committee (BioPAC) will get involved in California campaigns ranging from San Diego County school boards to the U.S. Senate, said Dr. Makoto Nonaka, chairman of BioPAC's board of governors and president of the Foundation for International Scientific Advancement. BioPAC will also contribute to candidates outside the county and to campaigns on ballot issues when appropriate, he said.
