BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. (NASDAQ:LPNT) announced today that it has entered into an asset exchange agreement with Health Management Associates, Inc. ("HMA") (NYSE:HMA) providing for the exchange of assets by the two companies.
Under the terms of the agreement, LifePoint Hospitals will acquire from HMA substantially all of the assets of 76-bed Williamson Memorial Hospital, located in Williamson, West Virginia, and, simultaneously, HMA will acquire from LifePoint Hospitals substantially all of the assets of 56-bed Bartow Memorial Hospital, located in Bartow, Florida.
