2004 OCT 6 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Free vascularized fibular grafting for femoral head osteonecrosis is feasible and effective for lupus patients.
"Osteonecrosis of the femoral head is a known complication of systemic lupus erythematosus," orthopedic surgeons in the United States explained. "Patients often require surgical intervention at an early age."
"Options include total hip arthroplasty, core decompression, and free vascularized fibular grafting," noted M.J. Garberina and colleagues at the Duke University Medical Center.
