Apr. 29--Today marks the 130th anniversary of The Colorado Chieftain's venture into daily publication, a venture that continues today as The Pueblo Chieftain.

The Chieftain began on June 1, 1868, as a weekly published by Dr. Michael Beshoar.

On April 28, 1872, it became a daily, and shortly after that its name was changed to The Pueblo Chieftain. The ownership had changed twice in the newspaper's first three years, and the publisher in 1872 was Capt. J.J. Lambert.
