Mar. 8--Chico's, one of the nation's top-performing women's apparel chains, is moving its distribution center and 100 jobs to Barrow County.
Fort Myers, Fla.-based Chico's agreed to buy the former Duck Head warehouse in Barrow County from Tropical Sportswear International. Tropical moved the Duck Head operations to Tampa following its August 2001 acquisition of the clothing manufacturer.
The $7.2 million Chico's deal is expected to close in 30 days, according to broker Greg Haynes of CB Richard Ellis, who represented Tropical Sportswear. Chico's expects to invest another $4 million to $5 million to get the distribution ...
