The Dane County Board tonight will consider charging each person taken to the county jail a $25 fee for processing.
The proposal comes on the heels of another controversial move two weeks ago to collect $1.2 million by continuing to charge prisoners higher rates for collect phone calls.
The inmate processing fee was proposed by board Sup. David E. Wiganowsky. He and other members of the board's Personnel and Finance Committee voted 5-1 in favor of it.
Another committee, Public Protection and Judiciary, voted 3-1 against the fee.
