SINCE 2001, CLF HAS BEEN WORKING TO REDUCE dangerous air pollution from Massachusetts's "Filthy Five" power plants. Today, your support will help finalize the cleanup of the Salem Harbor and Brayton Point power plants, the worst air polluters in the region.
On July 8, federal regulators refused to approve an $85 million ratepayer-funded bailout of Salem Harbor Station. The plant owners hoped ratepayers would fund the installation of air pollution control equipment. CLF argued that such a bailout would set a costly precedent for other old, dirty coal-and oil-fired power plants across the nation. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission agreed.
