One of the most frequently heard justifications for the grisly practice of abortion is that only babies who are "wanted" should be brought into this world. Thus, goes the reasoning, we will bring an end to child abuse and neglect and everyone will enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing they are truly "wanted."
This argument doesn't hold up under scrutiny. It completely overlooks the immense number of babies who are and would be ardently wanted by adoptive parents if only the widespread practice of abortion as retroactive contraception hadn't imposed such a complete and sudden drought on that supply.
