The Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation, whose Space Program has provided free Manhattan studios to 14 artists per year since 1990, has managed to survive another financial crunch [see "Front Page," May '04]. The program was threatened three years ago when the rent on its Tribeca space doubled, but a large, last-minute anonymous donation saved the day [see "Artworld," Sept. '01]. This time, shortly before the lease was about to expire on Aug. 31, a group of donors pooled enough money to renew the lease for another three years.
