2004 OCT 12 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A 78-year-old Valencia County man has died from encephalitis caused by West Nile virus, the fourth death from the virus in New Mexico this year, health officials announced September 21, 2004.
New Mexico Department of Health has confirmed 3 additional cases of the virus, bringing this year's total to 67 laboratory-confirmed cases in the state.
The new cases include a 54-year-old man from Dona Ana County with meningitis and an 85-year-old female and a 54-year-old female, both from San Juan County, with mild fever.
