Feb. 16--VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.--Tax-return preparer Jackson Hewitt Inc. confirmed Friday that it will shut its technology operations in Virginia Beach this summer and move the unit to Sarasota, Fla.
More than 100 local employees providing software support to Jackson Hewitt's franchisees were notified Thursday that they will be let go, employees said.
Some Jackson Hewitt employees were laid off Thursday. Others were told they will have a job until late April, and some were told they will be employed until midsummer when the company's technology unit on Centre Point Drive is closed, employees said. Jackson Hewitt's local work ...
