It was a hundred years ago that Milton Kennickell left his job as a typesetter at the Savannah News Press. He departed to start his own business, Kennickell Printing Company. He must have had a pretty good idea, because the company is still in business.
And at the century point, the business is still in the hands of a Kennickell, Milton's grandson Al. He joined the firm in 1977, on his graduation from college (the famous Citadel, which he attended on a football scholarship.) He was given a free hand by his father, Alfred, Sr., who himself had joined his own father in the business during the Depression in 1928.
