LOS ANGELES _ It was reminiscent of that special autumn afternoon in 1985 when Jack Clark marched into the batter's box, confidently raised his mighty bat and connected in a way that made Southern California quake.
Sunday night at Dodger Stadium, Game 4 was tied 2-2 in the top of the third inning. It was an anxious time for Cardinal Nation because the visitors had failed to fully exploit the wild generosity of Dodgers starter Odalis Perez, who walked five batters in 2 1/3 innings. The Cardinals permitted Perez and reliever Wilson Alvarez to wriggle out of a second-inning jam, and the Dodgers gained some needed inspiration.
