BFS sues tire dealership
Bridgestone/Firestone is suing Hempstead Tire Service Inc. of West Hempstead, N.Y., for what it claims is the wrongful collection of profits and commissions on the sale of BFS tires and for allegedly evading federal excise taxes.
The lawsuit charges Hempstead Tire's owners Michael and Ivy Chazen with fraud and said the dealership's indebtedness to the tire company exceeds $4.5 million.
BFS is seeking $3.49 million in damages, plus interest and attorney's fees. The Chazens could not be reached for comment.
