Mortgage industry experts see lending to underserved communities and individuals turn into a key driver to U.S. economic growth over the next 50 years. Therefore, community development finance institutions and other mortgage professionals who focus on these markets are also expected to enter the economic mainstream.
"We are seeing new approaches to community development finance that suggest that new markets might play a major role bringing new capital from new sources to new markets," said president and CEO of National Community Capital Association, Mark Pinsky, at a workshop sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
