Why by do beginners have trouble building boats? In my experience there are three types of would-be builders who are going to have problems successfully completing the project. The first is the type who knows better than the designer. He can't stand to follow directions.

He is the first to complain that the boat couldn't possibly be built from the inadequate plans with which he has been burdened. His complaining letter to the seller of the plans states that the designer's measurements are all screwed up, and no one could possibly build a boat from them. When this happens to me, the complaining falls a little flat - especially when I know that at least 100 boats ...
