* Atlanta (96-66, first place in the NL East) extended its own pro record with a 13th consecutive division title. The Braves were picked to finish third - behind Philadelphia and Florida - or fourth - behind the Mets, too - but instead won by 10 games over the Phillies. The Braves turned it on in late June, rallying from a 33-39 record to win 63 of their final 90 games.
