According to lore, it was love at first sight when the Portuguese and Filipinos met for the first time at the turn of the 16th century, after the conquest of Malacca by the governor of India, Alfonso de Albuquerque.

The same attraction can be felt today, further heightened by evident affinities that bind the two countries including a common Latin heritage, family values and even temperament.

Thus, its only fitting to continue the tradition via a Portuguese Festival in Manila which was started in 2002 by the Portuguese Embassy here.
