Oct. 8--San Diego County health officials sought to reassure the public Thursday that flu vaccine would be available to local seniors, small children and others at high risk after reports of a national flu vaccine shortage earlier this week.

British health officials suspended the license of California-based Chiron Corp.'s vaccine plant in England on Tuesday after finding contamination in some flu vaccine lots.
