Oct. 12--When Jo Anne Smith hired on at the Tyler Courier-Times-Telegraph, the newspaper's "new" home at 410 W. Erwin St. was only a few years old. Ms. Smith remembers the days of "hot type" and laying out the paper with a pencil and layout sheet.
"It was a new building, and I've seen many, many changes," she said. "We've had, of course, the different processes -- platemaking, cold type and now it' s in the computer age -- and I've seen and experienced them all."
