Technological, financial and regulatory uncertainty continue to impede the development of terrestrial-and satellite-based digital audio broadcasting (DAB) services, said speakers at a meeting of the mid-Atlantic chapter of the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) held here last week.
Robert Briskman, president and CEO of Satellite CD Radio, said that it will take approximately 3-1/2 years to launch a satellite-based DAB system serving the United States once an FCC license is granted.
