I recently fulfilled a long-term goal and attended my first Public Participation GIS (PPGIS) Conference. Sponsored by the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), the Third Annual PPGIS Conference was held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from July 18-20, 2004, in The Pyle Center over-looking beautiful Lake Mendota in down-town Madison, Wis.
The PPGIS conferences are small. The number of registered attendees was about 150--just a little more than 1 percent of the registrants at the annual ESRI gatherings.
