Dealerships that want to sell the new Ford Escape Hybrid must send at least one service technician to a two-day training class.
So far, 1,850 service-bay technicians have completed the course, says Al Rocker, Ford Motor Co. field operations manager of technical training.
The Escape Hybrid is Ford's first gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle.
The class is offered at 47 Ford training centers nationwide.
The training covers safety in working with hybrid vehicles, the Escape Hybrid's regenerative braking system, battery pack cooling system, and other tools and systems unique to the vehicle.
