Oct. 12--Three weeks before voters decide Bistate II's fate, arts supporters in Johnson County will unveil today a plan that they hope will reshape how the suburbs embrace art.
Long derided as a cultural dead end, the suburbs of Johnson County must make the arts as integral to everyday life as roads and parks, supporters say. To do otherwise will erode the quality of life that residents enjoy and drive away cutting-edge businesses, such as those related to bioscience.
