Oct. 12--Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is dropping money freely this year -- giving away generic drugs, providing free flu shots, running a series of new television advertisements -- and the spending spree is raising questions among some of the insurer's members and industry analysts.
The not-for-profit health plan is also renovating its glass-and-steel headquarters in Chapel Hill to accommodate more employees, bringing jobs that had been sent to out-of-state vendors back in-house and, in a one-time offer to employees, allowing swamped workers ...
