Oct. 12--Flanked by his country's most famous export -- major league baseball player Sammy Sosa -- Dominican President Leonel Fernandez made a pitch in Miami on Monday for his nation's economy, which he said was already on the comeback trail.
But first, in a nod to the city with the strongest ties to his Caribbean country, the Dominican head of state offered his support for Miami's quest to win the permanent secretariat for a proposed hemispheric trade pact.
