MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Staff from the Memphis Zoo will take delivery of three cougar kittens Thursday from the State of Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). The orphaned kittens, accompanied by Memphis Zoo staff, will board a FedEx Express MD-10 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and fly nonstop to Memphis on Thursday morning.

The move to Tennessee follows a nationwide search by WDFW to find a suitable home for the cats. The kittens were found Aug. 21 by a Duvall, Wash., homeowner on her property and were believed to be about five weeks old.

Based on DNA testing, the kittens were determined to be the offspring of an adult female cougar ...
