Trying to predict future digital camera features, made possible through new technology, isn't yet a precise science.
That said, cameras built with programmable digital media processors seem the most likely to thrive in the highly competitive marketplace.
Hewlett Packard Co., Palo Alto, Calif. (www.hp.com), provides a good case in point. The 5-megapixel HP Photosmart R707 camera features in-camera red-eye removal, while also retaining the preflash, red-eye reduction mode found on most digital cameras today.
