Indian Airlines' two-year-old fleet expansion plan has been approved once more by the airline's board despite a government recommendation to review the plan which could cost USD2.2bn.

US aircraft manufacturer Boeing has been lobbying the government to force the state-owned airline to totally revise the plan due to the length of time since it was first drawn up and the fact that Indian Airlines wants to buy 43 aircraft from its European rival Airbus.
