Oct. 14--A new Meals-on-Wheels program in the Bronx that delivers frozen grub instead of piping-hot food to the elderly is getting panned.
Golden-agers say the dinners are more gruel than gourmet -- and the chow often arrives late or not at all under the revamped system.
At a protest outside City Hall, octogenarian Poppy Rappaport grumbled that city officials "expect us to starve or fast like Mahatma Gandhi."
Even worse, she did not get any deliveries for five days. "I think it's absolutely heartless."
