PHILADELPHIA _ The Boston Red Sox have been preparing for this week ever since Aaron Boone's home run cleared the wall in left at Yankee Stadium last October.
They fired manager Grady Little and hired Terry Francona.
They traded for Curt Schilling, big-game pitcher and experienced Yankees slayer.
They signed Keith Foulke, an established closer, to fill a glaring need.
They nearly landed Alex Rodriguez, only to choke on their chowder when A-Rod ended up in the Bronx after Boone, the man whose homer beat them in Game 7 of the 2003 league championship series, hurt a knee playing pickup hoops.
