Oct. 14--LA Fitness is going after the reluctant gym user with a chain of "fat clubs" that come with a money-back guarantee.
It will open its first weight-loss centre in Bedford within four weeks. Chief executive Fred Turok reckons they could soon be attached to hospitals and doctors' surgeries.
Turok is dumping mirrors and treadmills for bare walls and exercise classes. The new fit clubs are aimed at the 80 percent of people who would never normally use a gym.
Punters will pay at the door and sign up for weight-loss, exercise or nutrition courses. The weight-loss classes have a money-back guarantee if members do not shed the pounds.
