HE STANDS alone as the Premiership's supreme foreign boss but Arsene Wenger insists he endured the hardest baptism of all the managerial imports into the English game.

The Arsenal boss - 55 next Friday - celebrated eight years in charge at Highbury earlier this week. Back in 1996 his first-ever game resulted in a 2-0 win over Blackburn.

Now, while the likes of Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and Liverpool chief Rafa Benitez moan about injuries, international weeks and the media, Wenger can smile knowingly to himself.
