A world-first development at Perth's Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital has received a grant. Researchers have been working on a laser device which measures the upper airway size and shape in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea. It records dynamic images rather than the static ones taken with CT and MRI scanning. The hospital will use the $A184,000 from the National Health & Medical Research Council to build a prototype.
