Oct. 20--How much money should Miami Beach spend promoting Miami?
That's the question at the heart of extended negotiations between Miami Beach and Miami-Dade County's tourism bureau, the latest in a chronic divide over the dynamics of the county's $12 billion visitor industry.
Miami Beach serves as that industry's biggest tourist magnet, yet marketing gurus say the traveling public sees the surf and the sand there as part of "Miami."
So that's the brand the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau promotes.
