TAMPA, Fla. _ The impasse between Keenan McCardell and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially ended Tuesday.
So did McCardell's stint with the team.
The Bucs shipped McCardell, their Pro Bowl wide receiver, to the San Diego Chargers in exchange for third- and sixth-round picks in the 2005 draft.
The deal beat the NFL's deadline for trades by a couple of hours and closed the book on a contentious 82-day contract holdout that marked the longest in franchise history.
