Oct. 20--Spokane County economic cheerleaders had a lot to yell about Tuesday, when unadjusted September jobless numbers dipped below 5 percent for the first time in four years.
Area economists have been saying for months that Spokane's economy has turned the corner. The numbers released Tuesday "show what we've been expecting for awhile, that things are improving in the local economy," said Donald Epley, a professor at Washington State University Spokane who tracks the economy.
