The fats & oils producer La Fabril, the supermarket chain La Favorita and the sugar mills Valdez and San Carlos are investing in electric power generation to guarantee their own supply. Valdez expects to generate 23 MW per month when the plant will be operating at full capacity, in June 2006. The company will invest a total of US$17mil in the project - US$4mil in a first stage - to meet its own demand of 11 MW per month. Power will be generated through sugarcane bagasse. La Fabril will invest US$12.3mil to construct two power plants after getting the concession of the dams Poza Honda and La Esperanza, ...
