Oct. 22--Kim William Sasse, the pilot of a commuter plane that crashed Tuesday night near Kirksville, Mo., killing 13 people, was a flying instructor so focused on safety that it frustrated some of his students, his father said Thursday.

"He used to tell me how a lot of his students would try to cut corners," Victor Sasse said of his son. "He was very safety conscious and that used to annoy people."

Kim Sasse, 48, of Ramsey, N.J., was among those who died in the fiery crash of AmericanConnection Flight 5966, operated by Corporate Airlines. The plane went down among trees about two miles south of the runway, as it approached landing at Kirksville Regional Airport. Two ...
