Driven by entrepreneurship and the need for a balanced life, women business owners have surged in the San Diego business community in record numbers, looking to break through the glass ceiling and the stereotypical business world of male dominance.
According to the 2004 report by the Center for Women's Business Research, a national women's resource organization based in Washington, D.C., the number of women-owned businesses in the top 50 metropolitan areas continues to grow faster than the economy in general, generating $1.3 trillion in annual sales and employing 9.5 million people nationwide.
