Japanese and U.S. business and political leaders agreed recently to develop a global satellite system to prevent natural disasters and preserve the environment, Japanese sources said.

Participants at a bilateral political and economic conference in Kyoto agreed to work with the governments of both countries to promote research and development of such a satellite, the sources said.
