For a period of nine years, from 1967 to December 1976, Barrie Graham Dexter played a pivotal role in developing national government policies towards Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In June 2002, the Library was fortunate to acquire the 'Papers on Aboriginal Affairs of Barrie Dexter' from The Australian National University Library, and since that date Dexter has added to the collection and donated material to the Library's general collections.
