"It's madness. It's chaos. It's screaming babies and fighting women."
That's how Lucy Acerno, manager at Fred Segal Couture in Santa Monica, describes the atmosphere during Fred Segal's annual sale, in which nearly all of the merchandise at its Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica locations is discounted by at least 50 percent.
The hip retailer's much-anticipated event kicked off Oct. 2 and goes through Oct. 17 (though most of the good stuff is gone after the first couple of days).
