ST. LOUIS - Keith Foulke missed an opportunity to nail down the first World Series shutout since Josh Beckett's sixth-game clincher for the Florida Marlins at Yankee Stadium last year, but the closer is still playing a part in every Red Sox win.
Foulke surrendered a one-out home run to Larry Walker in the ninth inning last night, squandering the combined shutout bid with Pedro Martinez and Mike Timlin, but held on to lock up the 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3 at Busch Stadium.
