Q | I get 40 to 50 grams of fiber per day. Is there any chance that by eating this much fiber I am "washing out" essential nutrients that my body needs?
A | Of course we all know the benefits of fiber, or we at least know that high-fiber diets are healthy. However, it is possible to eat too much fiber. FLEX generally recommends 25-30 grams (g) of fiber per day for bodybuilders. Eating 40-50 g is getting up there, but it is not dangerous. Vegetarians often get more than 40 g of fiber a day with no deleterious health effects. So it's fine to get that much fiber as long as you are not having stomach problems, such as gas, cramping or diarrhea.
