Kansas Gas and Electric Co. and Kansas Power and Light Co. made their merger official last week, now that an unsettling "bang" at a nuclear plant partially owned by KG&E has been explained.

Originally slated to be consummated March 16, the merger was stalled after a noise described by Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corp. as a "bang" was heard on two occasions when the Wolf Creek nuclear plant was being cranked up to full power (TER 3/23, p. 214).
